We offer both Day and Evening Fishing Trips aboard our Charter Vessel – Karen Ann.
Beginners and novices are all welcome, free tuition is available from our experienced skipper. We also hire out rods and reels at €10 per person (if required).
What kind of fish can you expect to catch?
We can expect to catch some of the following fish on a fishing trip aboard the Karen Ann:
– Cod
– Pollock
– Coley
– Ling
– Bass
– Wrasse
– Mackerel (in season)
– Tope (on request)
– Flat fish (on request)
What do you need to bring out with you on a fishing trip?
We advise you to:
– wear both warm and waterproof clothing
– wellies/boots,
– plently of fishing gear (feathers, traces, plenty of weights at least 8oz, etc)
– a packed lunch is also advisable on a full day fishing trip
– suntan lotion during the summer
– a camera can also come in handy as you never know when some unexpected sealife might appear!
Do I need to be an experienced fisherman to go out on a fishing trip?
We welcome individuals of all ranges of experience from beginners and novices to the most
experienced fisherman. Our experienced skipper is more than willing to give advice and tuition on the
use of rods and reels as well as which tackle is best to catch different types of fish.
How much does it cost to go out on the boat for a fishing trip?
A fishing trip is charged for the boat, regardless of how many people are fishing. For this reason we usually take one group of anglers out and they divide the cost of the boat between themselves.
Sometimes when there is room for a few more anglers on a trip, the large group would advise the skipper that they wouldn’t mind if others anglers were to join them for the day, as this will reduce the cost of the fishing trip for everyone. Does the Karen Ann provide any other type of boat trips apart from fishing?
As well as fishing trips, the Karen Ann also provides boat trips around the Saltee Islands along with
